AUSTRALIA: Rosehill Polymers has been awarded a contract to install its HoldFast rubber level crossing panels in Western Australia, building on its experience of installing similar rubber crossings in Victoria.
The HoldFast crossings are manufactured from recycled rubber granules, offering considerable environmental advantages compared to conventional rubber products.
Each rubber panel is manufactured in 1·8 m sections, weighs around 250 kg and is designed to sit on top of the sleepers. The skid-resistant panels are fully electrically insulated to minimise the risk of track circuit failure.
'In Australia there are three different rail gauges with many sleeper types, rails and fasteners, but our manufacturing methods enable us to adapt moulds to suit any permutation', says Stuart Wilson, Rosehill's Sales & Marketing Manager.
