CIVILS and mining construction firm Macmahon is being incorporated into Grupo Comsa’s Australian subsidiary MVM Rail under an agreement signed on January 20.
The deal consolidates MVM’s position in the rail construction sector in Asia and Australasia, and it ’expects a sales increase from the present €30m to €100m in three years,’ focusing on Australia but with ’selective development’ in Asia.
Macmahon had turnover of €395m in 2005, with profit up 20% on 2004. The company is a minor stakeholder in the Alice Springs - Darwin concession. Recent contracts won by MVM include upgrading the Melbourne - Sydney line and railway construction work associated with mining projects in Wilpiniong and Boggabri.
