TRINITY Rail GmbH, a European subsidiary of US firm Trinity Rail Group, has announced it is to end production of wagons at the Thrall Vagónka Studénka workshops in the Czech Republic.
Blaming ’weaker than anticipated demand’, Trinity Rail GmbH President Chris Schmalbruch said wagon building would be consolidated at Trinity’s plant at Arad in Romania.
Trinity’s forging business, based at the same Studénka site, will ’continue to operate as an on-going business’ as a subcontractor for the production of metal forgings. The number of staff at Studénka is to be reduced from 820 to 370.
