INTELLIGENT video surveillance products for railway stations and other large public areas such as car parks and sports stadia are to be marketed jointly by Bull and Keeneo under a technical and commercial agreement signed in June.
Keeneo is a spin-off company from Inria, the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science & Control, which has developed software to reduce reliance on the vigilance of staff monitoring CCTV networks.
Running on Bull servers, the software analyses video images, recognising behaviour which may pose a risk to help the human operator take appropriate action. The distance between a passenger and suitcase can be assessed to identify potential security risks from abandoned baggage, and the supplier says the ’virtual intelligent brain’ can enable quicker responses and increase the number of cameras each person can monitor.
