Angola: Transport Minister Andre Luis Brandao has announced plans to invest US$4bn on railway rehabilitation. Spoornet has submitted a bid to undertake the work and manage the network; US and European companies are also reported to have expressed interest.
Argentina: Under the rescue package agreed in February (RG 4.03 p190), Metrovías is to receive 1·7m pesos in operating subsidy up to December 2003, with Metropolitano paid 5·85m pesos. TBA has been allocated 2·6m pesos and Ferrovías 2·7m.
