Estonia: In June parliament voted to increase passenger operator Edelaraudtee’s funding to 148m kroons this year, 159m kroons in 2002 and 140m in 2003. State subsidies will cease in 2004.
Great Britain: Porterbrook Leasing is to finance 845 coal hopper wagons for EWS. They will be built at York by Thrall Europa.
India: Indian Railways has signed a DM185m loan agreement with German bank KfW to modernise signalling and telecommmunications on the Delhi - Mughalsarai route.
Spain: Banco Santander Central Hispano, Angel Trains, Bank of Scotland and La Caixa are the financial partners of the Talgo-Bombardier consortium that is to lease 16 high speed trains to Renfe (p517). Siemens is working with BSCH and La Caixa, while Alstom and CAF have signed agreements with Caja Madrid and Citibank.
