RUSSIAN Railways has introduced a business class car and restaurant coach on the Tolstoi overnight service between Helsinki and Moscow from June 15.
Designed by RZD and Zirkon, the air-conditioned business class car has four compartments, each with a private shower and a DVD player. The restaurant car has separate bar and dining sections.
On the same date VR introduced refurbished carriages on its Sibelius trainset which runs between Helsinki and St Petersburg. The cars have been modernised to meet the needs of the cross-border service, with superior standards of comfort, at-seat power sockets, retention toilets and upgraded air-conditioning. Baggage space has been increased, at the expense of a reduction in seating capacity.
