THE DOMINICAN Republic’s transport agency Opret announced on January 25 that bids to supply rolling stock for the Santo Domingo metro (RG 12.05 p754) had been received from Alstom, CAF and Siemens. Ansaldobreda and Bombardier were also expected to submit offers.
A fleet of 53 cars formed as 17 trainsets is to be ordered for the first phase of the Santo Domingo network, which will be 14·5 km in length.
