A CONTRACT worth A$2·4m to build an interim passenger terminal at Darwin East Arm for The Ghan has been awarded to Northern Territory-based construction firm Sunbild. Katherine station is to be built by Norbuilt in a A$2·2m contract.
Work on the stations will be completed by January, ready for the arrival of the first passenger train in Darwin on February 3. According to Northern Territory’s Minister for Transport & Infrastructure Kon Vatskalis, over A$6·5m worth of tickets have already been sold.
