CORUS is supplying its recently-launched 41GPU section grooved rail for the 9·4 km light rail network now under construction in Valenciennes.
The rail is designed to be laid vertically or inclined at 1:40 or 1:20. Corus is supplying a total of 2300 tonnes of standard grade 41GPU rail, and 300 tonnes of Sogeplex dual-material rail, which incorporates a layer of stainless steel to prevent rusting and improve electrical contact on curved track.
The €243m Valenciennes tramway Line 1 is expected to open between Dutemple and Université du Mont Houy in 2006.
