THE SEVENTH Infrarail exhibition takes place from March 11-13 at a new venue, the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, with signalling and train control technology at the heart of this year's show.

The confirmation in last year's UK rail white paper that a number of major enhancement projects are to go ahead, led by Crossrail and Thameslink, has helped to raise the profile of this year's event, with pre-show registrations reaching a record level - over 3 000 visitors are expected.

Among the major international suppliers taking part will be Ansaldo STS, Thales and Alstom Transport, which last year formed a joint venture with Balfour Beatty, Signalling Solutions, to pursue signalling contracts in the UK.

For the first time, this year's Infrarail will feature an on-track display. Two sections of track are being laid inside Hall 9, enabling exhibitors to present their products and equipment in an ?authentic setting.
