After several years of varying restrictions, the popular InterRail ticket is once again available for use throughout almost all of Europe, and by all age groups.

The InterRail 26+ ticket is now accepted in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and Morocco, as well as most other countries. Restrictions in availability had been imposed after these national railways raised objections to the way revenue was allocated. They argued that the allocated share of ticket income was small compared to the amount of travel on InterRail tickets.

The zone-based ticket introduced a few years ago has now overcome their objections. The youth ticket was restored last year, but the complete senior InterRail ticket range is being offered once again this year. SNCF subsidiary Rail Europe is marketing the tickets in Britain. o
