TRANSLEC will be displaying an LED train headlight, along with a range of other rolling stock lighting products which make use of LEDs to provide maintenance-free illumination with high reliability and low power consumption.
The use of LEDs as rail vehicle tail and marker lights or as signal lamps in now well established around the world, but recent improvements in technology have allowed Translec to develop an LED headlight. At present it is suitable for low-power applications such as underground metro systems, but as the light output from LEDs continues to increase, Translec believes it will eventually be possible to use the technology for main line rolling stock headlights.
