INTEGRATED management and operations data for the automated metro in Brescia will be provided using the Alcatel Metro Operations System. With 17 stations served by a fleet of 18 trains, the 14 km line is expected to open in 2011.
AMOS is being designed as a comprehensive communications network enabling operators in the control centre to monitor passenger security and operate automated information systems in real time. Similar technology is already being used on the København metro, which is being used as the model for the Brescia project.
Alcatel has successfully completed a trial of real-time onboard video surveillance in København, with images being transferred to the control centre from a train running in tunnel at up to 80 km/h. Data is transmitted via a new Wi-Fi link to the metro's existing optical communications network.
- Platform screen doors for the Brescia metro are to be supplied by Knorr-Bremse under subcontract from the consortium of Astaldi and Ansaldobreda which holds the turnkey contract to build and equip the line.
