Australia: On February 10 Queensland Rail ordered 38 heavy-haul diesel locos from Evans Deakins’ subsidiary Clyde Engineering for A$132m to work coal trains in the Bowen basin; EDI’s Manufacturing & Construction Division will supply 350 coal wagons for A$34m. ANI will build 700 wagons and supply bogies and components for A$146m.

NSW Freightcorp has ordered 120 coal wagons from Goninan. Varney Engineering is to refurbish another 200.

Ukraine: The Tatra-Yug joint venture established by Inekon and CKD Dopravní systémy of the Czech Republic is to undertake final assembly of 105 Type T6B5 trams ordered for Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Dniprodzerzhinsk and Kiev at a cost of US$30m.

USA: On February 3 Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ordered 10 more push-pull commuter coaches from Bombardier Transit Corp for US$12·9m.

Long Island Rail Road has ordered 224 bogie frames and bolsters from Bombardier Transit Corp for $8·3m. The railway is undertaking bogie replacement as part of its M-1 EMU overhaul programme.
