The Argentinian province of Salta invited expressions of interest by July 5 for operating freight and passenger services on the northern section of the Belgrano Railway. Under an agreement with the federal government, Salta and the eight other provinces of the Greater North Region have the right to contract third parties or operate services themselves, for 30 years from the transfer of Belgrano freight operations to Unión Ferroviaria (RG 4.99 p189).
The tender covers 3313route-km of 1000mm gauge, running from Pacar
