KEEPING engine crankcase oil at the correct level plays an important part in optimising running costs, and to help achieve this Groeneveld has adapted its Oilmaster oil management system for use on diesel multiple-units.
Developed for rail applications from a design which is widely used on road vehicles, Oilmaster monitors the crankcase oil levels while the engine is running and can automatically add oil from its 12·5litre or 19·5litre reservoirs.
Oilmaster is activated whenever the train is stationary with its engine running, and as well as reducing the risk of damage to the engine caused by low oil levels, it also prevents excessive oil consumption from running with too high an oil level.
