EXPANSION joints in concrete and steel bridges in Italy and Portugal have been waterproofed using Sentinel Algaflex TW reinforced elastomer sheet.
Sentinel Algaflex TW is designed for use with the supplier’s Eliminator and Hytec bridge deck waterproofing, and it has a continuous upper surface to prevent any ingress of ballast into the joint. Designed specifically for railway applications, it is robust enough for long-term maintenance-free use without any additional protection, and also offers protection against stray electrical currents.
The waterproof sheet can accommodate up to 320mm of horizontal and 80mm of vertical movement, enabling bridge bearings to be replaced without the need to remove the expansion joints.
