THIS MONTH Scott Wilson will combine its three London offices into larger premises at Greencoat House, bringing together its transport, planning, building services, mechanical & electrical and business consultancy arms under one roof.

The consultancy firm currently has most of its work within the UK, but is expanding overseas and expects to achieve 40% of turnover outside Britain. China is seen as a major growth market, and the company will be bidding for systems integration work on metro and light rail projects there.

Scott Wilson believes it must offer niche skills which are not available in the target country if it is to compete successfully with local firms. It is developing particular expertise in immersed tube tunnels and drawing up metro specifications.
