THE ANDALUCIA regional government’s Department of Public Works & Transport has published for consultation a revised alignment for the second section of metro Line 1 in Sevilla.
Running for 4·3 km from Guadaira to Los Quintos southeast of the city centre, the new alignment includes 1·6 km in tunnel.
Starting at Guadaira on Renfe’s belt line to the east of the city, the new alignment follows the A376 road on the surface, with Pablo de Olavide station located at the entrance to the campus of the university of the same name. The A376 is then crossed on a viaduct to reach Condequinto, before the route enters a tunnel section to Montequinto. There are two further underground stations before the alignment regains the surface.
