n Look for Iranian Islamic Republic Railways to announce plans to electrify its new Tehran - Qom - Esfahan direct line. Work is now under way on the 142 km second phase, following the opening of the first 137 km in March 1999.
n Danish state-owned holding group Sund & Baelt A/S reports expressions of interest from around 100 private-sector groups in construction of a €3bn fixed link over the 19 km Fehmarn Belt between Germany and Denmark. The company expects to issue a summary report for discussion by April 1 2002.
