A delegation from Indian Railways and the Ministry of Urban Development has visited UK infrastructure manager Network Rail’s Anglia route offices at Stratford to look at the technical and operational challenges of suburban services and at integration of rail with other modes. The visit was organised by Network Rail Consulting.

Michigan Tech University’s Transportation Institute is offering a free four-module distance e-learning course on high speed rail operations. Available via www.rail-learning.mtu.edu, the course is supported by a grant from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Engine manufacturer MAN has opened a training academy in Nürnberg to offer customers, employees and importers a 1000 m2 facility for theoretical and practical sessions assisted by the nearby MAN Engine Competence Centre.

A new technical school for pupils aged 14 to 19 in Greenwich in southeast London has received a withdrawn intermediate car from a C77 trainset operated until recently on LU’s Hammersmith & City Line. The car was donated by Transport for London, and it will be used for engineering-related courses.
