Italian door specialist Bode Sud SpA has developed an electrically-operated retractable wheelchair ramp which can be interlocked with train doors. A manual version is also available. The company is now using the same technology to develop a retractable step to bridge the gap between train and platform edge.

Osoppo-based FISA SrL produces a range of driver and passenger seats for the Italian market, working in close co-operation with Grammer. One of four approved suppliers to Trenitalia, FISA has been delivering passenger seats to Alstom Ferroviaria, Ansaldobreda and Firema for use on main line stock, and also to Milano metro operator ATM.

Alstom LHB expects to start test running with the first electro-diesel RegioCitadis cars for Kassel in the autumn. The first of nine additional ET474.3 dual-system trainsets which the company is supplying to Hamburg S-Bahn will be delivered this summer under a contract which includes conversion of 33 existing ET474 sets to dual-system operation (RG 12.03 p759).
