MOSCOW Metro has awarded an A$8·4m contract to AES Prodata, part of Australia’s ERG group, for installation of advanced fare collection equipment at 153 stations. The system is intended to reduce fraud and handle rising traffic. It will be based around the V3000 ticket reader which combines magnetic stripe and contactless smart card capability. AES Prodata will provide ticket readers, station computers, data collection and infrastructure management, and a card personalisation and ticket issuing system.
V3000 readers will be fitted to existing turnstiles; for the moment the metro will use magnetic stripe tickets for single and multi-ride tickets and monthly passes. Smart cards will be issued to staff for trials under Russian conditions.
Initially two gates in each of 240 entrance halls will be adapted, but the contract provides for the total to be extended to eight gates per hall. Another enhancement in the contract is provision of machines in stations able to dispense magnetic tickets or add value to smart cards.
H Barcelona bus and metro operator TMB has awarded two contracts totalling Pts1·86bn to Indra and a consortium of Comelta, Monétel and Sice for supply of 153 ticket vending machines, 768 AFC gates, 198 sets of ticket office equipment and 52 station control systems. o
