CONDITIONAL contracts have been exchanged for WS Atkins to acquire ScanRail, the transport and engineering consultancy division of Danish rail infrastructure authority Banestyrelsen. The companies expect to complete the deal in July.
The majority of ScanRail’s work is in Denmark, and its 300 staff are based in Århus and København. ScanRail Managing Director Preben Olesen will join the WS Atkins Rail management board. WS Atkins Rail Managing Director Peter Nelson said the acquisition gives the company ’significant opportunities to develop in Northern Europe and Scandinavia’.
