STOCKHOLM public transport authority AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik has awarded a SKr250m contract to ERG for the introduction of smart card ticketing across the city’s metro, suburban rail and bus network over the next two years.
The Resekortet project involves upgrading the existing magnetic ticketing equipment and gates at 150 stations and on 1800 buses, plus the installation of a central computer processing system to manage the database and financial reconciliation. Over 1 million smart cards will be put into circulation by the end of 2005, accounting for around 2·4 million passenger trips a day.
