REGULAR testing of parabolic and coil springs can be undertaken cost-effectively using the Spring Test Press developed by Ulbrich.
It has an automatic assembly line to handle large and unwieldy parabolic springs, and automatically records data on spring force, bending and longitudinal elongation, storing the results on computer for easy comparison against the appropriate specifications.
Testing of coil and rubber springs requires measurement of lateral force, distance and direction, which is achieved using three force sensors to record reaction forces. An option allows the spring under test to be repositioned to determine torque forces.
The testing is fully computerised, though manual intervention is also possible with a joystick. Results are compared with chosen specifications, and flagged up as a pass or fail as the performance data is recorded.
