Railodge has unveiled plans to provide dedicated hotel, restaurant and business facilities at key stations in Britain. The concept is based on the success of budget hotels for motorists, but will be enhanced by railway theming. Railodges will be designed to make use of existing buildings as part of refurbishment schemes, with new structures provided where required. The aim is to incorporate the Railodge into the station itself, with direct access from platform or concourse.

Dining facilities will be provided in restored static coaches stabled at a mock platform. Other catering services would be provided in a separate cafe bar. Meeting room suites will be available for hire.

Railodge managing director David Wells has proposed a national network of 100 Railodges to be developed over the next 10 years. o
