VOITH Turbo’s Rail Service Centre has secured its first service contract with Bombardier Transportation in Sweden.
The agreement runs in parallel with Bombardier’s own contract to service a fleet of Itino DMUs until 2012, and covers heavy maintenance of drivelines as well as responsibility for logistics, repairs and work under warranty. The trains have Voith T212bre transmissions, SE-450 and KE-460 final drives as well as heat exchangers, cardan shafts and Type 10 Scharfenberg couplers.
The first major overhaul of the Itinos will begin in 2007, when the units will have covered around 1·2million km.
