DSB has appointed Ricardo Certification as the Assessment Body for the GoA4 automation of København’s S-Bane. ‘Having supported the S-Bane’s signalling upgrades over the past 10 years, we have a deep understanding of the system and the processes and technologies that underpin it’, said Mark Dodsworth, Business Manager for Ricardo Certification Denmark. ‘We look forward to assisting the S-Bane’s transformation into one of the most modern mass-transit systems in the world.’
Insurance company Zurich Versicherung is funding free travel in Köln, where it is headquartered, on March 26. ‘We want to send out a positive signal for the local economy and at the same time for climate protection’, said board member Jawed Barna. ’After the long phase of staying at home and shopping online, we want to draw attention to the qualities of personal advice and good service and encourage people to fall in love with the city again.’
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan visited the Siemens Mobility factory which is under construction at Goole in northern England on March 21, and saw a mock-up of the 94 trains which will be supplied for use on London Underground’s Piccadilly Line from 2025. Sambit Banerjee, Managing Director, Rolling Stock & Customer Services at Siemens Mobility Ltd, said, ’we also want to build the next generation of Britain’s main line trains here in Yorkshire, alongside new Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & City Line trains, subject to funding being confirmed’.

California Department of General Services has awarded Littlepay a Master Service Agreement to offer public transport payment processing through the California Integrated Travel Project’s Mobility Marketplace. This provides operators with a one-stop shop to buy products which can be integrated within a modular contactless open loop fare collection system.
Moscow’s Department of Transport is to expand the metro’s Face Pay facial recognition fare payment system to trams, buses and suburban trains, with staff testing planned from April.
