INJECTION moulded synthetic filter material for use in on-train sewage retention tanks has been developed by Microphor. It is intended as a replacement for redwood bark which has traditionally been used in waste filter tanks, and should last at least 10 years.
Any chemicals which are accidentally dropped into the tank will not be retained by the filter material, and the tank can be cleaned using a high-pressure washer. Microphor’s MicroCulture can be added to the tanks to accelerate the breakdown of waste products, helping to prevent blockages caused by excess paper. The company also produces MicroScrub, a bacteria-based cleanser for toilet bowls.
