BROADREACH Networks has launched Broadreach Train Services Ltd, a subsidiary specialising in on-train internet access. Further investment has been obtained from existing shareholders, and Virgin, operator of two UK rail franchises, has increased its stake in the business.
BTSL is expected to form a significant part of Broadreach’s future development, and the company is working with PointShot Wireless to offer train operators outsourced wi-fi installation and operation packages. Full service on-train trials are expected to begin in the UK shortly.
H PointShot Wireless has secured financing from existing investors Axis Capital, GTI Capital and Venture Coaches to fund a London office with research and development facilities. Further European offices are planned for 2005.
