Afghanistan: AfRA has extended from 300 km to 700 km the scope of a feasibility study for a northern west–east rail corridor which is being undertaken by Canarail and Appleton Consulting under a contract awarded in December 2013. Phase 1 now covers a route from Aqina (for Turkmenistan) to Mazar-i-Sharif and Khulm, and Phase 2 continues this to Kunduz, Sherkhan Bandar and Tajikistan.

Europe: Eurostar has awarded Corys a contract to supply a Siemens Velaro e320 desk simulator to train more than 160 drivers on its new fleet (p42).
Netherlands: NS has reduced its IT suppliers from three to one, awarding KPN a five-year extendable contract to provide IT services including management of 12000 workstations, 1900 servers and data centre services.
Saudi Arabia: Ansaldo STS has awarded Faiveley Transport a contract to supply screen doors for 44 platforms on Riyadh metro Line 3.
USA: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Sumitomo Corp are to supply a 2·3 km automated peoplemover with 12 cars for Tampa International Airport, and maintain it for five years from the opening in 2017.
Cubic Transportation Systems is to upgrade Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s TAP fare collection system under a $9m contract.
