Austria: Voestalpine company Logistik Service has ordered two Siemens Eurosprinter ES 64 U4 electric locomotives equipped for use in Austria and Germany.

Bosnia: On June 12 Bhzjk signed a €5·3m contract with Croatian manufacturer Koncar for the production of a prototype low-floor 25 kV 50 Hz EMU for regional passenger services. It will be funded by long-term loans provided by Croatian banks, for delivery in 12 months.

China: Hyundai Rotem has won a contract to supply traction, control and power supply equipment for trains to be built for the 33 km Shenzhen Metro Line 3, scheduled to open in 2011.

Faiveley has announced a 'strategically important' contract to supply Changchun Railway Vehicle Co with EPAC Lite braking equipment for use on 170 metro cars to be built for Shanghai lines 6 and 8.

Cuba: The first 11 of 40 type DF7G-C diesel-electric locomotives ordered from China Northern's February 7th Locomotive Works were shipped from Tianjin on June 12. The rest are due to be shipped next month, along with five DF7K-C Bo-Bo shunting locomotives. In 2005 CNR delivered 12 DF7G-C locos, which are 'running well' under hot and humid conditions on the line from Habana to Santiago.

Czech Republic: CD is to call tenders for the supply of eight DMUs for services from Praha to Ceské Budejovice and Rakovník. They will be funded using KC12bn which CD has been allocated in compensation for the July 1 transfer of property to infrastructure manager SZDC.

France: SNCF has awarded Alstom a €1·3m contract to modify four of the 20 type X73500 DMUs allocated to Franche-Comté region for use on services from Morteau to La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. This includes integrating SBB balise readers, and the contract has an option for a further four DMUs.

Germany: CommScope company Andrew is supplying in-train repeaters to improve mobile phone reception on 1 495 Deutsche Bahn ICE ?vehicles (RG 5.08 p282).

Wascosa has supplied oil company OMV with 20 Euro Tank Car wagons. The 24 tonne vehicles are being used to transport aviation fuel to München airport from refineries at Vohburg and Neustadt in Bayern.

Hungary: The board of MÁV has approved the purchase of 25 Bombardier Traxx locomotives equipped for use on 25 kV and 15 kV AC and 3 kV DC electrified lines.

Norway: Norska Auto Transport Service has placed a SKr30 order with Swedish firm Kockums for 10 twin-section covered wagons to carry new and imported cars to showrooms.

Russia: RailTransAuto has put into service the first of a new design of car-carrying wagon designed by St Petersburg firm Ruzkhimmash. Capacity is 9 tonnes higher than previous designs.

RZD has signed a preliminary agreement to acquire 100 2TE25A electric freight locomotives, which will be built at Transmash Holdings' Bryansk plant.

On June 9 the city of Volgograd awarded Petersburg Tram Mechanical Factory a contract for the supply of two three-section LRVs which will be used on the 14 km Metrotram segregated light rail route.

Slovakia: A KC112m contract for the modernisation of eight Bratislava CKD Tatra K2 trams has been awarded to Czech firm Pars Nova, now owned by Skoda (RG 4.08 p217).

UK: On June 18 East Midlands Trains announced it had awarded Derby-based DeltaRail a contract to refurbish its 25 Class 158 DMUs over 20 months. The units will gain additional seats and replacement toilets and air-conditioning equippment.
