RUSSIA: The city of Nizhny Novgorod has ordered 11 UTM Type 71-415R (R for ‘retro’) vintage-style trams.
The 75 km/h, four-axle, single section cars will be 15 m long. They will have wooden bench seating for 36 passengers and a total capacity of 123 passengers at normal loadings or 174 at crush loading.
Although a retro-styling was specified, the 100% low-floor cars will have modern controls and be equipped for transporting passengers with reduced mobility.
The trams are scheduled to be delivered this year under a 946m rouble five-year leasing deal with sole bidder Sberbank Leasing, with payments scheduled to start in January 2022.
