CZECH REPUBLIC: Skoda Transportation has rolled out the first of 15 three-car and four two-car Type 7Ev 'RegioPanter' single-deck regional and suburban electric multiple-units which Czech Railways ordered under a KC2·51bn contract signed in February.
The partly low-floor air-conditioned vehicles have first and second class seats by Borcad, wheelchair-accessible retention toilets, 230 V at-seat sockets and audio-visual passenger information. A space for bulky luggage, prams and bicycles is provided. The bodyshells are made of aluminium extrusions with steel front ends, and top speed is 160 km/h.
They will be a mix of 3 kV DC and 3 kV DC/25kV 50 Hz dual-system units. Deliveries will begin next year and run to February 2014. All vehicles will be built by Skoda Transportation's subsidiary Skoda Vagónka at Ostrava-Vítkovice.
- On October 28 CD took delivery of the first of 33 RegioShuttle RS1 single-unit diesel railcars ordered from Stadler Pankow in April 2010 (RG 5.10 p12). The Class 840/841 units have two Iveco Cursor 8 engines and Voith hydraulic transmissions meeting Stage IV emissions standards and giving top speeds of 100 or 120 km/h. The 65% low-floor air-conditioned units offer 71 seats and space for 98 standees and have a controlled emission toilet.
