LUXEMBOURG: State railway CFL announced an €60m order for eight Stadler Rail double-deck electric multiple-units on October 7.
CFL said they will be similar to the double-deck units ordered by Swiss operators SBB and BLS, which Stadler Rail launched under the brand name KISS during InnoTrans.
The three-car CFL sets will provide an hourly service from Luxembourg to Koblenz in Germany from 2014. This will require equipment for two signalling systems and both 25 kV and 15 kV AC electrification. They will have a top speed of 160 km/h, 300 seats and space for 24 bicycles and three wheelchairs.
