SPAIN: One Hundred Restrooms has won a tender to lease and operate public toilets at ADIF Alta Velocidad’s most important stations, and says its ‘relieve, refresh, reload’ concept for high quality facilities will ’turn a toilet visit from a necessary evil into a reviving micro break’.
The Dutch company said market conditions and customer expectations are changing rapidly, and the facilities would include health-check areas, parent and baby spaces, a hydration station and inclusive services such as stoma cleaning.
‘This is very exciting news for One Hundred, our partners and the public who use these services whilst travelling’, said Niels Bakker, Managing Director of One Hundred Iberia. ’It means a significant step for One Hundred in view of our ambition to become the number one toilet operator within the European market.
‘Spain is an important market for us, as we launched our concept in Madrid, and the ADIF project will be one of our biggest operations. We are looking forward to contributing with this project and introduce the new standard in public restrooms to travellers.’
The contract covering Barcelona Sants, Madrid Atocha, Madrid Chamartín, Zaragoza Delicias and Alicant stations was announced on March 8, and first of the ‘future proof’ toilets are scheduled to open in June.
