ITALY: South Tirol regional transport authority STA announced on May 7 that it had selected Bombardier Transportation for a €65·8m contract to supply seven electric multiple-units for use on through services from Malles Venosta to Bolzano and Innsbruck or Lienz in Austria.
The Talent 3 EMUs will be similar to trainsets which Bombardier Transportation is supplying to Austrian Federal Railways.
They will be equipped to operate under 3kV DC and 25kV 50 Hz electrification in Italy, and 15kV 16·7 Hz in Austria.
