UKRAINE: National railway Ukrzaliznytsia has completed the refurbishment of an EPL9T eight-car electric multiple-unit, the first time it has modernised an EMU of this type in-house.
It has been fitted with wheelchair ramps and spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, as well as an accessible toilet with changing table, space for 24 bicycles, USB Type C charging ports, internal and external CCTV and additional lighting at the doors.
The Luhanskteplovoz plant in Luhansk produced 120 EPL9T EMUs in 2001-08.
They have 964 seats and a top speed of 120 km/h, and are used om suburban routes in Kyiv and Poltava.
