NETHERLANDS: National passenger train operator NS announced on March 31 that Marjan Rintel is to step down as President to become President & CEO of airline KLM on July 1.
Rintel has been at NS since November 2014, initially as Chair of the Passenger Services business and then as Operations Director and since October 2020 as President. Before joining NS she worked for KLM for 15 years in various operations, sales and marketing positions.
‘We regret the departure of Marjan’, said Chairman of the NS supervisory board Gerard van de Aast, adding that she had ‘ensured that NS has so far come through the coronavirus crisis well and can look ahead to the future’.
The supervisory board has begun the process of finding a successor, with Finance Director Bert Groenewegen to become Acting President if no-one has been appointed by the time of Rintel’s departure.
