RUSSIA: PK Transportnye Systemy has been selected to supply 16 trams to Rostov-na-Donu. Deliveries from Transmashholding’s Tver Carriage Works are due to be completed by the end of November.
The single-section 71-911E City Star is 16·5 m long and 2 500 mm wide with capacity for 170 passengers at a loading of 8/m2. The tram is 100% low-floor and will operate on the only 1 435 mm gauge network in Russia.
The 524·8m rouble order is being financed by Rostov Oblast. A City Star prototype had arrived for testing in Rostov-na-Donu on February 27.
