INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones for three metro projects in the state of Maharashtra on December 18.

Two of the projects are in Mumbai. Line 5 will run in the northeast of the city, linking Thane with Kalyan via Bdiwandi. Line 9 will serve the north of the city, running from Dahisar to Bhayander via Mira.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for Pune Metro Line 3. The elevated 23·3 km route will run from Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, serving 23 stations.
