On August 28 Sound Transit broke ground for Mukilteo station, a multi-modal interchange in Washington state which will be linked to Seattle by Sounder commuter rail, bus and ferry services when it opens next year.

A £4·23m building at St Helens Central station in northwest England was handed over to Network Rail by contractor C Spencer Ltd on September 10. Britcon supplied steelwork for the building, which includes retail areas, staff facilities and lifts to a new footbridge
