IRAN: The first phase of Tabriz metro Line 1 opened for trial passenger services on August 28, with free travel offered for an initial three months.
The 7 km route runs northwest from El Goli to Ostad Shahryar with four intermediate stations, including three in a tunnel excavated using TBMs.
Services are operated with coupled pairs of five-car trainsets. When complete, the east-west Line 1 will run for 17·2 km from El Goli to Nur with 18 stations. This is intended as the first phase of a four-line network.
