USA: PS Technology has released its Precision Train Builder software, which is designed to provide a physically accurate simulation of train and vehicle behaviour, both to assist with analysing derailments and to support forward-looking scenario building to improve the safety of operations.
Precision Train Builder can be used for post-incident analysis, as well as for predictive analysis and vetting rulesets to provide prescriptive recommendations for train formations taking into account the route, weather, and operating restrictions.
It calculates physical interactions on a wagon-by-wagon basis, with each vehicle’s behaviour added to the next one down the train.
