FRANCE: Infrastructure manager SNCF Réseau and British monitoring technology company Senceive are to collaborate to define the requirements for wireless track condition sensors.
The exclusive two-year research and development agreement will see the project team analyse data from structural, geotechnical and track monitoring instruments installed at various sites across France.
The initiative forms part of SNCF Réseau’s High Performance Network programme to modernise its infrastructure and move towards predictive maintenance.
SNCF Réseau is seeking to provide maintenance teams with continuous and precise condition information, using technology that is simple to install, robust and requires minimal maintenance over a 15-year lifetime.
Senceive specialises in wireless monitoring of railway track, tunnels and earthworks, providing early warning of failures, alerting asset owners to potentially dangerous events and enabling maintenance resources to be deployed where they are most needed.
