SPAIN: Freight operator Captrain España has ordered a further eight Euro6000 multi-voltage electric locomotives from Stadler Valencia. They are scheduled to be delivered in 2025, taking its fleet to 24.
The order announced on May 3 has been funded in part by a €15m grant from the government’s Sustainable & Digital Transport Support Programme within the NextGenerationEU Recovery plan for Europe.
The locos are designed for bogies with either 1 668mm or 1 435 mm gauge wheelsets. Three will be supplied equipped for 1 668 mm gauge in Spain and Portugal, and five with 1 435 mm gauge bogies to enable operation through to France and Luxembourg.
