RUSSIA: Transmashholding’s Tver carriage works has supplied 18 coaches to the Sakhalin Passenger Co subsidiary of Russian Railways’ Far Eastern Railway.
TMH has delivered 10 coaches with nine four-berth compartments, four coaches with nine two-berth compartments, two 54-berth open-plan platskartny dormitory cars and two cars with accommodation for staff and passengers with reduced mobility.
The cars include showers, drinking water dispensers, safes, electric power points and USB sockets.
Conversion of the island’s network from 1 067 mm to 1 520 mm gauge is progressing, with 2M62 locomotives delivered last year to replace narrow-gauge TG16 diesel locomotives, and TGM7 and TGM11 shunting locomotives replaced by TEM18DM. Three RA3 diesel multiple-units were also supplied.
