CZECH REPUBLIC: National operator ČD is to produce 27 Type Armpee bistro cars by modernising existing WRmee816, WRmee814 and ARmpee832 dining cars.
The work is to be undertaken by ČD subsidiary DPOV in two phases, with nine vehicles to be rebuilt in 2018-19 and 18 in 2020-21.
The design developed by Studio Descent is inspired by ČD’s refurbished Pendolino fleet. It includes adjustable seats from Borcad, 230 V and USB sockets similar those used in first class coaches, wi-fi, new lighting and an AMIT audiovisual passenger information system including electronic seat reservations.
The galleys will be modernised with new stainless steel kitchen units.
ČD currently owns 37 dining cars and 20 bistro cars, including those in the Pendolino and Railjet trainsets.
